There is something peculiar with Real Estate Agents in Dubai, (and the UAE). Many seem to be very comfortable and secure in an unofficial ‘Real Estate Agents Club’ for lack of a proper term. This is not to be confused with such organizations as in countries like the US that have the NAR ™ (National association of Realtors)
What is the Agents club? How did it form? and why is it bad? for these answers, read on…
We first came to experience the Real Estate Agents Club, after our email address was distributed by a generous spammer knowingly or otherwise, to the mailing list of one such anonymous member of the club.
Soon realvisionhomes.com was receiving close to 60 emails a day with property listings. Not proper structured listings, but generic emails many times with the same regurgitated ‘list’ of apartments interspersed with non relevant personal greetings from the listing agent. The Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI) for real estate studies, is to our knowledge the first such institute in the region.
DREI has announced its portfolio of executive training programmes for the first half of 2008. This was reported in Gulf News today.
The programmes are offered in partnership with prestigious universities specialized in various advanced real estate fields.
The DREI is helping fill the void that was present in the real estate industry in this region. We finally have an organization and resource center for real estate professionals and new agents looking to start off their career in real estate.
It should be worth noting that besides certification, which is definitely needed to keep this industry functioning professionally, new students and agents will have the benefit of the resource center at the DREI.
Access to this knowledge base will go a long way in shaping the outlook of Real Estate agents working in the market and would amongst other things introduce methodology and best practices as is seen in more mature markets world wide.
Undertaking at least one of the various courses such as the Diploma and Executive education programs on offer at the DREI is highly recommended and indeed much needed.

We are of course figuratively speaking. Nobody, whether client or agent…is God, Period!
But seriously, as a new agent just starting out, in order to make your mark in the increasingly competitive market place, do you sometimes feel that you are going overboard when being hospitable and tolerant to client tantrums and mood swings?
If so, it should stop! Not only is it damaging to your self respect and long term success in the real estate market, you are also contributing to an undesired behavioral trait that may emerge in epidemic proportions with home buyers and investors here.
It is not uncommon to see in any industry, how the people (usually the buyer) with money always assume the role of power, with little regard or respect for the other person they are dealing with. For example…
A Property Viewing is a BUSINESS MEETING!
Don’t let any client or investor make you believe anything else.
In a business meeting, would any party be unprofessional enough to not show up on time? or say something to the effect of ‘expect me anytime between 10am and noon’?
These are just some of the examples that real estate agents experience in real estate dealings. Read the rest of this entry »

Email etiquette can be learned very easily. One basic rule is very simple. Try to keep the size of the emails you send at bare minimum.
While many real estate agents are not computer geeks, and may not know things like image re-sizing and what optimal jpeg image compression is all about, some simple tips can help you go a long way in possibly NOT LOSING A CLIENT
If that got your attention… read on..
Yes, you could lose a potential client simply because they are ‘put off’ by the mails you send them and the size of those emails. Read the rest of this entry »

Life is good for real estate professionals in the UAE, with the Real Estate boom currently underway and showing no signs of stopping!
While this is always a good thing, to be called a true real estate professional, it would be wise to look at how real estate listings and business is conducted in mature markets.
Agents in the UAE are blessed with abundance of properties thanks to the steady supply of projects being announced, nearing completion and already completed.
In no other world wide market is it possible to get away with listing a property, without basics such as location map, photographs and a well put together presentation.
However, everyone knows that life for a real estate professional in the UAE is also hectic, and there are just too many deals to be done to bother with the way a property is presented.
To help address this situation, RealVisionHomes.com leverages technology to assist a real estate agent.
Free services such as the SMS a property service, allow an agent or investor anywhere in the world to list a UAE property by simply sending in the details by SMS!
Realvisionhomes’ back end software even looks for keywords of projects in the sms, and attaches the projects website address and photographs to the listing. The new mapping feature of the Online Property Posting on realvisionhomes.com will even allow an agent to simply pick a project that the property belong to and have a ready map attached to the listing.
Helping International Investors
Why is a property location map so important? There seems to be a unique phenomenon in the UAE as far as buying and selling real estate goes. It seems that real estate agents are dealing more with each other than catering to end buyers. Read the rest of this entry »
